AUTISM ASSESSMENT
How Is An Autism Diagnosis Reached?
We assess both children (5yrs+) an adults for autism. For children, the assessment consists of a parental interview, questionnaires, a play based assessment and a conversation with the child. The responsible clinician will then review all the information at hand within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and then an outcome will be conveyed via comprehensive report and verbal feedback. For adults this will include a structured interview and questionnaires which we recommend that you complete with the assistance of a relative or close friend, because we find that people who know you well may be able to provide insights into characteristics that are less visible to ourselves. The responsible clinician will then review all the information at hand within an MDT and an outcome will be conveyed via comprehensive report and verbal feedback.
Autism Assessment Results & Diagnosis?
After the assessment process is complete, the individual will receive a comprehensive report outlining the results. This will include:
The diagnosis and recommendations will be provided by a qualified professional, such as a Clinical Psychologist who has expertise in Autism diagnosis and intervention support. Please note that the completion of a private autism assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis, and results may indicate that the individual does not have a diagnosis. Regardless of the outcome, the assessment process can provide valuable insight into the individual's challenges and as a result we can provide recommendations to improve mental health wellbeing.
